S4 the next big thing in Stratford Developments
Lendlease and LCR have been given a thumbs up for their newest development in East London. The building is known as S4 and is designed by architects Arney Fender Katsalidis. Stratford is already a thriving leisure hub and the IQL is adjoining the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
It will be the fourth prime structure developed at IQL and will be completed by early 2020. Andrew Tobin, Project Director of IQL, Lendlease said: “The approval of plans for AFK’s new building marks a new chapter for IQL as we bring this new type of public space into the area.”
What are ‘Third Spaces’?
Third spaces are a fantastic concept. Lendlease have used their workplace design expertise to incorporate them into S4. They are spaces where the virtual and physical can be as one. They are a very clever idea and provide people with a place to be connected in all manners. A shared electronic and social space which provides a new way to work and live in the community. This clever inclusion in the design really sets S4 apart from other new workplace designs and leads the way forward.
East London is looking up
The sky is the limit for Stratford at the moment. IQL is in a great location. It provides access to all airports in under an hour and along with Crossrail it is set to become a very connected part of the city. The area has great leisure facilities and lots of green spaces providing the means for workers to relax during downtime.
This new building will provide natural light via it’s floor to ceiling windows and will have large terraces on every third floor for employees to enjoy. With individual and collaborative areas it truly is the key to a balanced working environment.
